The Abstraction of Perspective, Structure and Movement
"Perspective is perception of depth -
Abstraction is creating realities deprived of all realism"
My art reflects my habit of analysing structures - intellectual structures, external structures, internal structures, rules, thought patterns, ideas, etc. - I take them apart, break them down into little bits and peaces. The smaller the pieces get, the more abstract these structures and their interchanging systems get, and I then am able to rearrange, redefine and move those little bits and pieces around freely and use the structures to my liking, to put everything into new perspective, to find priorities. "First I fully accept the structures, then after analysing and rearranging them, only the I can move freely"
The structures, objects, colours and words in my art are constantly flowing, always in motion, my paintings are snapshots of these structures, objects, colours and words, frozen in a moment of time.
"Chaos, when perfect, leads to harmony and balance"

His work derives from his background as a dancer and contemporary jazz choreographer where his ideas and pieces were focused on the differences of perspectives of each "participant" - choreographer, dancer, audience - and how the choreography and surrounding external and internal structures - urban, artistic and mental - create a different experience in everyone depending on the members point of view in this flowing, constantly moving and changing complex system of bodies, spaces, structures, mind and soul.
The physical movement of body in dance is a very important part that Jonathan kept from this time and that he fully incorporates in his work as an artist.
"the fragility of reality", a movie about Jonathan, his work in general and specifically about "the fragility of reality" (made for Barcelona Contemporary 2021) produced by little.egg productions, directed by Jonathan Berkh, Patryk Senwicki, Laura Ettel and Tahnee Nordegg has been highly acclaimed at international film festivals with 8 Official Selections, 12, Semi-Finalists, 1 Finalist, 1 Nomination and 4 Wins - so far .....
In conclusion his art is based on the analyses of the four concepts of:
Structure, Movement, Abstraction and Perspective
Structure - chaos, creativity, places, technique, rules, thoughts, ideas, respect, tolerance, acceptance, inspirational elements in archictural-, urban- and natural landscapes.
Movement - allowing existences, bodies, thoughts, ideas, techniques, elements, spaces, objects, relations, positions, views, minds, importances... to freely change places and perspectives.
Abstraction - is the quality of dealing with ideas rather than events, in thought, view, space, surface, idea, life experience, word, ... anything. It is something visionary and/or unrealistic; absence of preoccupation; the process of considering something independently of its associations or attributes, something that only exists as an idea; taking away layers to get to an essence - creating a reality deprived of all realism.
Perspective - the appearance of viewed objects with regard to their relative position; a sense of expansion; regarding objects in relation to position and distance from the viewer; the sense of existence in space before the eye; the relation of two figures in the same plane, a point of view, a state of mind; the understanding that things are of relative importance - the perception of depth in anything; thought, view, space, surface, idea, word, ...
"The physical movemental involvement of the body is an essential part of the process of creating."
